Journey through the hills...

The mountains etched on the skyline and seem to be suspended in the mid-air. The mystique mist suddenly gives you a shrill and they leave you hidden for few minutes. If you stay inside the cottage, you could see the clouds travel past you. If you have thought of taking a stroll after seeing sunshine, then you can also be deceived with the sudden down pour. If you want to experience the uncertainties of nature and see its astounding sides, then, you need to visit this small town near Ooty, called Coonoor.
Travelling through the serpentine mountain roads dotted with towering trees and hearing the sounds of different birds and animals will take you to this beautiful place.  It is the second hill-top after Ooty in the Nilgiris Mountain.  If you think Ooty has lost its’ charm or got hassles with the crowd, then your bet should be for this hill station.
At first sight, Coonoor is almost pretty with vantage points looking at the lush green forests and the water falls. In the early morning, sun rises as an orange ball peeping out of the mountain gives a feel they are nearer and can be touched is a never sunken feeling. Even in after noon, the chill breeze sweeps the face and feet gently.
The tea plantation covers a huge chunk of the place and taking a stroll between the plantations is a breath-taking experience. The surprising visit of bison, monkeys and fox would give an excitement. But do remember they should not be disturbed or fed by the people. This caution signage can be seen everywhere in this mountain.
This picturesque location is attached to the history. The English people used this town as one of their holidaying spots. Their influence is still visible among the people living here. If you make a visit to the grave yard, then you would be puzzled to see the English names that inscribed in the graves. These people had lost their life during the mutinies and buried here.
This hill station has a lot of hotels, cottage and houses for rent to help the tourists. The best of the home-made chocolates and ice cream can be relished in this tiny place. It is a well networked via air and train. The nearest airport is Coimbatore and the railway station is Mettupalayam. A two-hour drive from the airport and station will take you to the destination.
A visit to this hill station will promise hordes of beautiful and lovely pictures for your facebook account will be my last bait to lure you towards the hills.
